Tom Baines Overflow – 2024-2025

Edgemont families received a message from CBE indicating that Tom Baines School is over capacity and an overflow to Arbour Lake has been planned for next year. We know that this is causing some worry for parents, especially our grade 5 parents.  Please be reassured that students enrolled in grade 5 at Edgemont School AND who live in the Edgemont Community will be accommodated at Tom Baines School in September. Students who do not live in Edgemont will be designated to their neighbourhood school. This is an automatic process and there is nothing for grade 5 parents to do.

Coming Soon: School Engagement Opportunities

Parents are encouraged to provide their voice in our upcoming School Engagements. This engagement will gather parent input on fees and our School Development Plan. There will be 2 opportunities for parents. The first is during our February School Council meeting on February 21st. The second is through our online survey to be launched February 26th.  Your voice is important, and we hope to have many parents participate.

Friendly Morning Traffic Reminder

As we navigate through the brisk mornings, we kindly request your cooperation during drop-off times, even with the 15-minute window provided. Cold mornings tend to bring congestion, and we'd like to emphasize the importance of patience. Please refrain from honking at our staff who are working hard to manage traffic flow. Our top priority is ensuring the safety of students being dropped off in the traffic circle.   For those accessing the community center lot, there are two options for exiting. You can smoothly enter the main flow of traffic at the exit closest to the school, or if you prefer, you can wait for a staff member's assistance to cross traffic. Crossing traffic involves temporarily halting flow in both directions, which can be a bit challenging, especially when there's a backup down the community hill.

We understand that everyone has schedules to keep, and we share your desire to keep things moving swiftly. If time is of the essence and waiting isn't feasible, we kindly ask that you refrain from entering the community lot. Also, be aware that any mistreatment towards our staff will not be tolerated.

Your cooperation and understanding make a significant difference in ensuring a smooth and safe morning routine for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.
