August 29 - First Day of School
Enjoy the summer and see you on August 29th.
Is it me or is it spring fever?
June is an interesting time of year for teachers and students. We often see more anxiety and "unexpected” behaviours during this month as students are both excited and nervous about the coming summer and next year. For our older students, it is a transition to Tom Baines, while for our younger students, it means changing a class from a teacher whom your child has bonded with. Teachers have shared that the last day is bittersweet as kids are sometimes unsure of what to feel.
Please take the time to talk with your children. Ask them about how they feel about the end of the year, changing classrooms, potential changes with friends, and being away from school for the summer. Often students will feel off but won’t know how to process the way they are feeling. Students may need reassurance that what they feel is normal and that the changes will be ok. They may want to express their feelings in writing to key people as they finish the year. Often the opportunity to process is enough to make them feel more settled as we finish out the remainder of the school year.
We are here to support students and parents - now and into the new school year. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or to us at the office if we can support your child with the transition.
Thanks for all your support.
Kids, Hats and Sunscreen - A Chat GPT poem
When the sun is high and bright,
Wear your sunscreen, spread it right.
Hats on heads to keep cool shade,
Enjoy the fun, no sunburns made.
Lotion up from head to toe,
In the sunshine, safe we'll go.
Hats with brims, wide and neat,
Protect us from the summer heat.
So as you play and run all day,
Sunscreen and hats will lead the way.
Stay safe in the golden rays,
Happy, healthy, sunny days!
We will be going outside often! Please make sure that student are protected from the sun and heat!
