Thank you Volunteers!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our parent volunteers for attending our Land based Learning trips this month and for making our recent Fun Lunch (Edo) such a resounding success! We are truly grateful for your time and generosity. Parent involvement strengthens our school community, and we appreciate everything you do to support our students' well-being and enjoyment. Thank you for being amazing volunteers!

A Poem for our Bus Parents

Oh, dear parents, hear our plea,

For a smoother bus dismissal, you see.

If you're picking up your bus child from school,

Just let our office know, that's the rule!

By giving us a heads up in advance,

We'll keep our drivers happy and no angry dance.

No delays, no fuss, just a quick bus load,

Ensuring all students are safe and on their way home!

Thank you, oh thank you, for your kind support,

Helping us keep things running, that's a good sport.

So remember, dear parents, to give us a ring,

If instead of the bus you’ve arranged a different thing!

Increased Traffic Congestion in the mornings:

Thank you to parents for your patience during the morning rush. As students are being dropped off the safety of students exiting cars in the traffic circle is our primary concern. Please ensure that you are dropping off students on the curb and not letting students out of your car from an inside lane. Also, students should exit from the right-hand door, so they are not stepping into traffic.

Ms. Holford would like to remind parents that once staff is directing traffic, cars will not be permitted to cross traffic to enter the top lot. This lot is still accessible to parents if they travel around the circle and make a right-hand turn into the lot.  Please understand that staff put themselves in a potentially dangerous situation on icy roads to ensure that traffic flows as best as possible. We reduce the risk significantly if traffic does not cross in front of us.

Car-Pooling

We would like to encourage parents to consider carpooling with neighbors or friends at pick up / drop off times. This would help with the density of cars at busy times.

Grade 5 Parents

The Grade 5 Celebration of Learning (Amazing Race Canada: A Journey Through Canada’s Regions) is occurring on March 7 at 6:30 pm.  Doors to the school will open at 6:15 pm. We have no limit on the number of guests each grade 5 student can have to attend the performance. Previously we said each student could only bring 2 guests, but with further thought and planning, we are now allowing no set limit on guests per student. We look forward to seeing you there!

Is your child Returning to Edgemont Next Year?

It is the time of year that we are starting to make plans for next year. Each year, the CBE gives schools information about the number of students the system believes will be attending our school next year. The accuracy of this information is vitally important when we consider the number of classrooms and the number of staff that we will have next year. With that in mind, we are asking families to let us know their intentions for the 2024-2025 school year. Should you be unsure about your plans for next year, that is important for us to know too. Please indicate that you are unsure and we can follow up with you at a later date.
