Dear Families and Friends of Edgemont School,
Hello’s and one good-bye.
We hope that you will join us in welcoming 3 new staff members to Edgemont School. Mr. Tyler Schroeder started with us this week. He has been getting to know the grade 3 and 4 students. Ms. Christine Hettiaratchi will also be joining the grade 4 team later in the month. Ms. Dreanne White will be joining us as of October 20th in the Edgemont Office. We hope you will also join us in wishing our wonderful Mrs. Michele Nowakowsky well, as she will be retiring as of October 20th. We want to thank Michele for her years of love and care for our students! You will be missed!
Cancellation of October Off-Site and On-Site Activities
Due to ongoing labour action, the Calgary Board of Education has made the decision to cancel all on-site and off-site activities for all CBE schools for October. This decision applies even if the labour action ends earlier than expected.
We understand this may be disappointing news for students and families, and we appreciate your understanding as we work through this situation.
Volunteer Clearances: We encourage parents to take the opportunity to update their volunteer clearances in the next few weeks as the office is still open. When classes resume, we are hopeful that we will be going on field trips once again.
Likewise, photo day, book fair, and parent-teacher interviews are pending resolution of labour action.
Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you know, job action is set to begin on October 6th. This means that today is potentially our last day together with students before the job action starts.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your support and understanding during this time. Our students have shown resilience and positivity in the face of change, and staff are deeply grateful for the encouragement we have received from families.
Please note that during the job action, teachers, including the principals, will not have access to email. Updates to parents will be communicated by the Calgary Board of Education, so we encourage you to check your email and the CBE website Labour Action page regularly for the most current information.
Most importantly, we look forward to being back with your children as soon as possible. Their learning, growth, and well-being remain at the heart of all that we do.
With appreciation,
Lori Holford, Proud Principal
