Learning Conferences
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who came to our School Conferences. We had a great turnout, even though the weather was very cold and wintery!
Book Fair
Many of the families were asking about the Book Fair. Please note that the Book Fair runs Monday-Thursday, December 1-4, 9:30 am -3:30 pm and Friday, December 5, 9:30 am-12:00 pm. Thank you to all the parent volunteers helping to get this set up and ready for families.
"Schoolify" Winter Concert (Grade 3/4, 4, and 5 classes)
It's that time of year to celebrate the music our students have been learning. Please join us on Thursday, December 11th at 6:30 pm to enjoy a performance from our Grade 3/4, Grade 4 and Grade 5 classes. All 9 classes will be performing songs they have learned on various instruments. We look forward to seeing you there.
Gentle Reminder to Families at the end of the Day
During the last week, we noticed some major congestion in the front foyer at the end of the school day. We have approximately 60 students moving from the gymnasium each day to get back to their classrooms for dismissal. We also have approximately 120 grade 3 students that use the front door for their dismissal, many of whom need to get to the buses safely and promptly for attendance. We also have a before and after school care program that our students use in the community center. A very busy foyer indeed!
We are asking families to wait for their children at a convenient meeting place outside, leaving the foyer free so our students can get their boots on and move through the foyer safely and efficiently.
Thank you for considering the safety of our students.

Parent-Teacher Interviews Reminder
Our interviews are November 27 and 28th. There is no school for students on Friday November 28th and no school for kindergarten on November 27th or 28th.
Booking opens: Saturday, Nov 22 at 9:00 AM
Booking closes: Wednesday, Nov 26 at 12:00 PM
We look forward to connecting with you to discuss your child’s learning and progress.
- IPP students: If you have already met with your child’s teacher about the IPP, there is no need to book another interview.
- Interpreters: Available upon request.
- Online options: Available upon request.
You can access the booking system through your MyCBE account. If you are unable to attend the scheduled conference times, please reach out to your teacher to arrange a phone call or an alternate interview time. After Wednesday at noon, please contact the office directly to make an appointment.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning!
Winter Drop-Off Reminder
With winter weather on the way, traffic at drop-off will increase. Please be patient and follow staff directions to keep everyone safe.
- The short slope into the parking lot is steep—cars without good winter tires should not attempt it. Vehicles unable to safely navigate the slope will be turned around.
- Drop students at the curb in the traffic circle only. Do not drop off inside the circle.
- You may park and walk your child to the doors, but use the parking lots, not the circle.
- Do not cross in front of or behind staff directing traffic—they’re not made of Teflon!
Thank you for helping keep our students and staff safe.
Edgemont Community Christmas Hamper Drive – Now Through December
We are excited to partner with the Edgemont Community Association to collect items for their Christmas hampers. All donations are welcome!
Some suggestions from our “hamper elves” include:
- Kindergarten & Grade 1: Socks and mittens
- Grade 2: Hats and scarves
- Grade 3: Chocolate and candy
- Grade 4: Books and colouring books
- Grade 5: Crayons and markers
We also always welcome: small stocking stuffers, non-perishable food items (as requested by the food bank), and gift cards.
Donations can be dropped off at the Edgemont office. Thank you for helping us spread holiday cheer to families in our community!
Friendly Reminder: Extra Clothes at School
We recommend that students keep an extra set of clothes at school. Please pack them in a ziplock bag so that any dirty clothes coming home can be kept separate from the rest of the backpack. A complete set could include: socks, underwear, a top, pants, and extra mitts.
We do have some clothing available in the office for students who need it, but our supplies are running low. If you have gently used clothing in sizes 6–12, we would greatly appreciate donations. Items we especially need are: mittens, hats, pants, socks, and (shhh…) underwear.
Thank you for helping us keep our students comfortable and prepared!
📅 Parent-Teacher Interviews – Booking Opens November 22
Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday, November 27 (evening) and Friday, November 28 (morning).
Bookings will open to families on Saturday, November 22.
If you have already met with your child’s teacher regarding an IPP, you do not need to book another interview at this time.
Interpreters are available for families who require language support—please let your teacher know when booking so we can make arrangements. Online interviews can also be arranged upon request.
A few tips for a great interview:
- Bring your child
- Come with questions that help you understand your child’s learning.
- Focus on how we can work together to support growth and confidence.
- Remember there are two formal interview times each year, but we are always open to conversation. If you have a concern or wonder, please don’t wait—call or email your child’s teacher anytime.
We look forward to connecting and celebrating your child’s learning together!

Edgemont Traffic Circle
Reminder to parents/guardians,
Please be mindful when dropping off students at school using the traffic circle. Children should not be dropped off in the middle of the traffic circle as this is unsafe and quite dangerous. If the drop off zone is full, we encourage parents to park in the parking lot and let children out there. We also would like to remind families when using the drop off part of the traffic circle (the outside lane closest to the curb), please pull all the way through to the top of the loop closest to the kindergarten doors, have children exit quickly and safely and then proceed back into the center lane exiting the school. Supervision and soft entry begins at 9:00 am each day. Please help keep our students safe.
Thank you,
Edgemont Staff

Remembrance Day Assembly
Today, our school community came together to honour the veterans who have fought for the freedoms we cherish. Our Grade 3 and 4 students from rooms 21, 23, 25, 26 and 27 led a beautiful assembly, sharing the significance of the day through song, poetry, and art. We wish all our families a safe and peaceful long weekend.

Casino Volunteers Needed!
We’re reaching out to ask for your help with our upcoming Casino Fundraiser on Tuesday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 26 at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino (1000–1500 35 Street SE, Calgary).
This is our biggest Edgemont Parent School Association (EPSA) fundraiser, held once every two years. It directly supports many of the programs, activities, and resources that make our school community vibrant and engaging.
Thanks to your support, we’re able to offer enriching opportunities such as field trips, school initiatives, classroom technology, and performances that enhance student learning and growth.
We need volunteers to fill various roles over the two-day event. No experience is necessary—training will be provided on-site. Meals are included during your shift. It’s a great way to give back, meet other parents, and support our school community.
Can you lend a hand?
We know that rescheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 27–28 may create scheduling challenges for our volunteers. To help, Casino Fundraiser volunteers will have the option to book their conference times early, making it easier to participate in both events.
To sign up, please see the following links:
