Chalk the Walk: A Colourful Kickoff to the School Year!
Nearly 200 parents, students, and teachers came together Labour Day Evening for Edgemont’s annual Chalk the Walk — a favourite tradition that happens the evening before the first day of school. The event is all about connection, creativity, and calming those first-day jitters.
Sidewalks were filled with bright colors, cheerful drawings, and encouraging messages like “Have a great day OK!” and “Welcome to Edgemont Kindergarten!” Students laughed and played as they reunited with old friends and met some of their teachers in a relaxed, fun setting.
One new student shared their excitement:
“I met my ambassador that showed me around the school again today! She is going to be in my class.”
Moments like these help students feel connected and confident, turning nervous energy into excitement for what’s ahead.
Thank you to the Edgemont Community Association for arranging food trucks for the event!
Reminder: Tomorrow is the first day of school! Teachers will be outside between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m. to greet students and help them find their spots.
Here’s to a fantastic start—to greater heights together!
