Dear families and friends of Edgemont School, 

🌟 Staff Welcome & Updates 🌟 

We are pleased to welcome several new and returning staff members to our school community. 

• Ms. J. Atwall has joined us and will be teaching in Room 10 alongside Mrs. Young. 
• Ms. S. Facca is joining our Grade 2 class in Room 24. 
• We are also happy to welcome Ms. B. Veale back to Edgemont as our Acting Assistant Principal beginning in January. 

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Hansen for her leadership and dedication while serving as Acting Assistant Principal from September through December. Her work and support during this time were greatly appreciated. 

We are also excited to welcome new members to our facilities team: Mr. Wilson, our new Facility Operator, and Ms. Li, who has joined the facilities staff. We are very glad to have them as part of our school community. 

Please join us in giving all of our new and returning staff a warm Edgemont welcome!  

🏒🍽 Fun Lunch Reminder – Thursday! 🍽🏒

Just a reminder that Fun Lunch is happening this Thursday. All the details have already been posted in Google Classroom, so be sure to check there if you need a refresher. 

It’s also Jersey Day! 
Students are welcome to 

• wear red to cheer on our Calgary Flames on game day 🔥 or 
• wear a jersey of their choice from any team or sport. 

Good food, school spirit, and a splash of red. It’s shaping up to be a great Thursday! 

❄️ Playground Safety – Icy Conditions ❄️ 

With Calgary’s frequent freeze–thaw cycles, icy conditions can develop quickly on our playgrounds and are very difficult to fully mitigate. While gravel is regularly spread, it often sinks into melting snow and then refreezes below the surface, where it offers very little traction. 

Even on warmer days, students should continue to wear proper winter boots, as they provide the best grip on icy surfaces. Our supervisors and teachers actively redirect play to less slippery areas and work with students on walking carefully and safely when ice is present. 

At times, despite warmer temperatures, we may need to cancel outdoor recess for safety reasons. We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we prioritize student safety during these tricky weather conditions. 

🎒 Kindergarten Registration – Opens Monday, January 12 🎒 

Kindergarten registration opens on Monday, January 12. We are pleased to share that Edgemont now offers on-site before and after school Kindergarten care, providing added convenience for families. 

Kindergarten registration is completed through the MyCBE portal. Additional information about the Kindergarten program can be found on the CBE Kindergarten Program page:

Families who would like to learn more about the on-site KinderCare service are also welcome to contact or visit the school office, where we have information available.

📄 Report Cards – New Release Date 📄 
Report cards will be available beginning February 24, 2026. This is a change from previous years, when report cards were typically released in January. 

Parents and guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, teacher comments, assignments, grades, and attendance. For the best and most complete access to information, we recommend logging in through the MyCBE portal rather than using the PowerSchool app.
